On Saturday the Northumberland Plate Handicap takes place in Newcastle , where
i like the look of HIGHER POWER. In six races this dour stayer either won or
finnished runner-up for instance at the Queen's Prize Handicap, who is a good trial
for this contest. I confidently backed him @ 8.50*** WON
Nothing like that in the German Derby, which i will visit in my hometown Hamburg
next Sunday. When pundits were asked, what they fancy, some might say Colomano,
who has won the most important trial race, others will mutter Warrant States (JPN), a
chestnut, who have a good record here or Enjoy Vijay, who will be ridden by C@D
specialist Andrasch Starke. Perhaps i back all three at very modest stakes and put
them into singles, reversed fore- and tricasts. Usually punters leave the racecourse
with a long face, when once again a rank outsider has won it - I wonder, wether this
year will be different.*** LOST
Already tomorrow on Friday the U21 European Championchips final will be played
between Germany and Spain. Germany is a decent side, though i reckon Spain a notch
higher in quality with more players in their squad with international class. I expect a
good game with plenty of goals and Spain as the winner, who have a long tradition
of winning this tournament and are better rested too.
SPAIN to win and > 2.5 goals @ 2.90 *** LOST
